My grandson, Nathan, and I were stateside for three weeks recently. We had a blessed time with family and friends. The time was especially filled with those little instances that have been planted in the annals of my memory. You know the kind of fond memories I’m talking about. Some particularly fond memories from my childhood are when we took vacations to Tennessee. Most of our family would go on vacation together. We were all one big, excited group of cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. We traveled south from Ohio in a caravan of vehicles including one car pulling a boat. We went to a little resort on Watts Bar Lake. When our family gets together these many years later, heart warming talk of times spent together at Watts Bar Lake often become part of the conversation. We remember together the ladies playing rummy, the ‘sassafras tea’ cocktails, the catch of fish that my uncle and dad would clean so we could eat them, the water skiing; I could go on and on. A funny thing happened during this trip stateside that flooded my mind with these pleasant memories. |
